Open Sonicloom Studio

PUBLIC BETA · QUICK START

Play a tab. Add it. Mix.

Download SonicLoom 0.13.0 beta

Desktop Chrome beta. Extract the ZIP, load its folder on chrome://extensions, then click SonicLoom on a playing music tab. In the mixer, click Connect these sources to Studio to enable the website waveform. Store installation is not available yet.

Sonicloom is the website where you build a soundscape and add optional binaural tones. SonicLoom is its Chrome extension: it brings playing browser tabs into your mix and runs the DJ decks.

Try it in a minute. No extension needed.

  1. Open the studio and click Play the demo.
  2. Move the layer volumes. Try the Ocean, Build and Release scenes to hear the mix change.
  3. Try Add audio files with your own tracks, or explore Binaural enhancement below.

The demo uses synthesized sounds. Your files and saved workspace stay in this browser; keep your original audio files.

Bring in YouTube music

Use desktop Chrome for the website and extension together. The extension is currently an unpacked beta, not yet a Chrome Web Store release.

Install SonicLoom 0.13.0 (one-time beta setup)
  1. Download SonicLoom 0.13.0 and extract the ZIP into a folder you will keep.
  2. Enter chrome://extensions in Chrome's address bar.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
  4. Use Chrome's puzzle-piece menu to pin SonicLoom, then refresh Sonicloom.

Use Chrome 116 or newer. For an update, replace the extracted files, reload the extension on that page, and refresh Sonicloom. Reloading stops existing captures.

  1. In the studio, paste a YouTube video link and click Add to mix.
  2. On the video tab that opens, start playback. Click the SonicLoom extension icon, then its add-to-mix button.
  3. If the mixer asks, click Enable audio. Return to Sonicloom and repeat for another video.
  4. Set one source to A and another to B, then move Crossfade. Always on sources stay outside the crossfade.

Keep the source tabs, extension mixer and studio open. A pasted link alone does not capture audio: each video needs that extension click.

DJ: match tempo, then align beats

  1. Add two playing tracks, select DJ in Sonicloom and click Open DJ decks.
  2. In SonicLoom, assign the tracks to A and B. Beat View and the first two deck buffers start automatically in DJ mode, including newly added sources. BPM recognition waits for three consistent readings, then holds the result until you choose Re-detect BPM. A new reading only replaces an existing track BPM when you click Use detected BPM.
  3. Enter a Target BPM and click Set both decks, or use one deck's Match BPM to match the other. Leave Preserve pitch checked.
  4. Use Beat View to choose the reference and follower. Try Align once or Auto follow. Use Build 12s DJ reserve for more tempo headroom. Amber grid markers mean competing beat positions: select the deck, shift its grid by half a beat if needed, then Confirm this grid. Grid edits move markers; Nudge moves audio. Reanalyse grid clears your confirmation.

Matching BPM sets speed; alignment sets where the beats land. Automatic detection and following are experimental, especially with unusual rhythms or quiet passages. Correct Original track BPM manually if needed.

For a sound bite, use Set IN, move forward, then Set OUT. Use Play sound bite or Loop bite. Buffer times count from capture, not from the original video's start. Go live bypasses tempo and pitch processing.

Playlists and automix

In DJ mode, paste or drop multiple video URLs and send them to the DJ decks. In SonicLoom, open and capture each source, reorder the playlist, and set each item's Play seconds. Choose a 0–10 second crossfade and Start automix. Zero makes an immediate cut. Mix next now advances early; Stop automix leaves the current mix in place. All playlist sources must already be connected.

Sources keep playing while waiting: this beta mixes live streams on a timer and does not automatically seek, pause, or detect the end of a source video. For two prepared decks, enable Beat-aligned fades after Auto follow has aligned them. The fade starts on the next estimated beat using the audio clock. Uncertain grids, excess drift, or insufficient buffer headroom stop the transition. This is experimental beat-level alignment, not bar or phrase detection.

Visual Lab and an external display

Select a preset in Visual Lab and use Pop out visuals. Move that window onto your extended monitor or projector, then click Fullscreen. Adjust audio reaction, motion, complexity, color, brightness and render scale from the mixer. Fractal bloom and Kaleidoscope are generated in real time. Spectrum halo and Oscilloscope show audio measurements.

Website visuals follow local audio and binaural tones. To follow captured YouTube music, use the Visual Lab in SonicLoom. Choose video tab opens a browser picker for live video instead; the output stays muted to avoid duplicate audio. Use Stop video sharing when finished. Buffered DJ playback can be out of sync with the source video. The beta uses one output window per mixer and does not automatically switch source videos during automix.

Add binaural tones to either mode

Put on stereo headphones, open Binaural enhancement, select a listening intention and click Turn on binaural beats. Adjust Tone level and Music / binaural beats to blend them underneath your music. The On/Off indicator shows the tone layer's state. Keep the website open while using the DJ decks.

Start quietly. These are optional listening experiments, not proven ways to produce a particular mental state or a medical treatment.

Help shape the beta

Send feedback to the friend who invited you: what you tried, what you expected, what happened, and your browser/device. A screenshot and the steps that reproduce a problem help. Please don't include passwords or private account information.

Your streaming services

Paste a YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, or other streaming URL into Studio. Play the stream in Chrome, click SonicLoom, and add the tab to your mix. Sign in to the streaming service as usual. Capture availability varies by service and browser.

Colin uses and recommends YouTube Premium to avoid YouTube ad breaks in a mix. Premium is optional, and sponsorships within videos may still play.

Automatic beat matching

In DJ mode, add two tracks and click Auto Sync. SonicLoom waits for tempo recognition, prepares a buffer reserve, matches tempo, and follows the kick timing. This experimental detector works best with steady four-on-the-floor music. Use the manual beat-grid controls if it selects the wrong beat.
